Music performance about human imperfection
The Cry written by Jacek Kaczmarski is a lesson of current history talking about the truth, hypocrisy, rebellion, capitulation, reprehensible cynicism and painful powerlessness. It also tells about a complicated behaviour of a crowd which gives origin to a spiritual leader, adored at the beginning and destroyed finally by the same crowd. Sandwiched in the system (not only communism), the Artist fights with windmills like Don Quijote. Like Don Quijote was annihilated by dr. Carasco, the Artist is annihilated by the system. Every nation has its Don Quijote.
The performance is based on clever and bitter songs written by Jacek Kaczmarski. These songs do not describe only one event or one cycle of history, although they were written to comment particular events or spiritual attitudes. The play results rather in the bard’s tragic story than in his confusion and thinking about the past and the present. It stirs up with its timelessness and forces you to think about human imperfection, dirty tricks, lust and the desire for power.
