Zuzana Maurery
In 1990, she graduated from her acting studies at the University of Musical Arts in Bratislava under the leadership of Martin Huba. She was a member of the ensemble of the Radošínské Naïve Theatre for nine years and at the same time, acted in most Bratislava theatres - as Pierette in 8 Women (direction Roman Polák), Gertrude in Hamlet, the Hungarian woman in Sekretárky (Secretaries) or Milena Jesenská in the acclaimed ballet performance Light in the Dark about Franz Kafka at the Slovak National Theatre. As a distinct acting (but also singing) talent, she started to be engaged mainly in musicals after the year 2000. She has played many main roles in Bratislava, Nitra and Prague: Roberta in Jeptišky (Nunsense), Sweet Sue in Some Like It Hot (direction Milan Lasica), Rizzo in Grease, Vicky in The Full Monty or Sally Bowles in Cabaret (both directed by Jozef Bednárik). She was awarded a prestigious prize from the Literary Fund for the role of Rona in Hair, directed by Gombár (the Bratislava production).
After a two-year engagement at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, where she trod the boards as Lady Montague and the Nurse in the musical Romeo & Juliet almost every day, she acted the main character of Maria Theresa in the satirical comedy The Habsburgs at Vienna's Museumquartiere.
Apart from her theatre activities, Zuzana Maurery has taken part in many entertainment programmes, television productions and films both at home and abroad. In Brno, we could see her in the musical Hair in the role of Victoria (direction Dodo Gombár) and these days, she can be seen in the role of Felicia in the Witches of Eastwick (direction Stanislav Moša).
