The most popular Czech folk play featuring song and dance, in two parts
It is one of the most popular Czech folk operettas. It was certainly the hits and musical numbers by the theatre and film actor, text writer and above all the most famous Czech song writer Karel Hašler which guaranteed the undying popularity of Podskalák, an original play of four scenes by František Ferdinand Šamberk from the year 1882. In 1928, Podskalák was successfully made into a film and Theodor Pištěk acted in the main role with great enjoyment. The entertaining story of this folk operetta of four scenes will take us to Podskalí (a Prague settlement on the left bank of the Vltava river which no longer exists today) among its distinctive inhabitants.
