Christmas Songs and Carols
We have decided to prepare a unique Christmas present for the audience of the Brno City Theatre – the Christmas Concert at the Music Theatre of the Brno City Theatre in several reruns.
The concert programme will consist of the “golden Christmas hits” in arrangements by Günther Gürsch, Christian Kolonovits and Igor Vavrda - Silent Night, White Christmas, I’ll Be Home For Christmas, We Wish You A Merry Christmas... The orchestra of our theatre will certainly shine in the instrumental Winter Wonderland; the selected songs will include both Lennon’s This Is Christmas and Cohen’s Hallelujah. Our musical repertoire will be reminded by Zvláštní znamení (“Strange Signs”) from the musical Markéta Lazarová, world musical composers will be represented by Pie Jesu from Requiem by Andrew Lloyd Webber and of course you will not miss out on traditional Czech carols, e.g. the iconic song Narodil se Kristus Pán and many others.
The songs will be performed by the singing elite of our ensemble, who will be accompanied by the choir Ars Brunensis, the children’s choir Bystroušek and the Brno City Theatre Orchestra under the direction of the chief conductor and choirmaster Dan Kalousek. The script and direction of this production is the work of Igor Ondříček.
