magical comedy about life after life

Felicity and Simon Willis are expecting their first child. Simon is (for now) an unsuccessful writer, and Felicity gives him her loving support despite a lack of understanding from her mother. Thanks to Mark, an estate agent, they find a house which seems to be ideal for them. Simon is very excited because it’s the place where the author of his favourite detective stories used to live, while Felicity loves old homes due to their unusual atmosphere, and in fact hopes that they might meet proof of the existence of life after life at the house. She believes that the ghosts of the previous owners, who died tragically, are still there.

If Mark had been honest with the Willis couple, he would have admitted that there are some funny goings on at the house. Every time he goes in there, something supernatural occurs. Objects hang in the air, or move around on their own… While it scares Mark, Felicity sees it as a reason to love the house even more. Everyone is satisfied. Mark has managed to rent out the scary house, Felicity can encounter the things which fascinate her, and Simon will finish his novel at the same desk that his idol used to write on. And the previous inhabitants of the house, Jack and Susie Cameron, really are still “at home”. They haven’t gone to heaven due to being turned back at the gate because Jack wasn’t willing to believe in the existence of God even in the presence of St. Peter. So, we are watching two married couples in one house. Each of these deals with their own problems, they can’t see each other, and yet they influence each other. In fact, they even learn to communicate together.

This romantic comedy about things beyond our ken was written by the contemporary British writer Pam Valentine, who manages to combine excellent conversational comedy with questions that every one of us asks daily. And it is exactly the birth of the expected baby that brings the required answers to those questions. This tale about love and hope, which is full of affable humour and absurd situations, promises great acting opportunities for the members of our ensemble and at the same time an unusually adventurous excursion into the magical realms that exist just outside our lives.
