A musical based on the world-famous novel by Nikos Kazantzakis
Zorba the Greek – a work which is known mainly as an Oscar-winning film with the legendary Anthony Quinn, also has a musical form. Its authors are John Kander and Fred Ebb, who are also the successful creators of the musicals Cabaret and Chicago.
The most famous novel by the Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis was created as a celebration of man. Zorba, as a simple villager, can live with nature but at the same time manage to search for answers to questions regarding the meaning of life, death and the complexity of human relationships. The heroes Niko and Zorba are looking for happiness in one of the traditional villages. They want to love, fight for their own place in the Sun. They accept sadness, unhappy love affairs and death with inexhaustible energy, vitality, songs and dance. A story that radiates not only the heat of burning hot Crete, but also the warmth of human existence, love and mutual tolerance.
