a family adventure musical, world premiere

In ancient times, from the land of fire and ice, from the land of Norse gods and sagas, from the land of fjords and mythical dragons, the Viking empire arose. A proud and rampaging nation, a nation of warriors for whom honour was more important than their own lives. And here began the story of our hero Johan, the brave Viking... well, not exactly. Johan is no valiant Viking warrior yet! He would like to wage war and make glorious conquests, but he is still rather young for that. He is the son of a bard who sings odes about the glorious campaigns of brave warriors, so Johan probably does not have an impressive career ahead of him in warfare either. He would rather follow the path of his uncle, the illustrious Haftor the Dragon Slayer! This is why he decides to defy fate and undertake a risky plan along with his friend Sven, a young inventor. They must kill a dragon and decorate their helmets with the teeth of this creature. Only then will they be real Viking warriors. But the whole plan goes rather awry, and our small adventurers find themselves pursued not only by warriors from their own village, but also by a huge enemy army that would like nothing better than to occupy their neighbour’s territory...

Following the success of their musical drama Nine Crosses, the team of authors comprised of Robin Schenk, Petr Štěpán and Miroslav Ondra have come up with an adventurous comedy story for the whole family that takes us to the mythical north during the times of the Viking campaigns. They tell a story about themes that resonate across the centuries with humour and a sense of perspective. Who is a real hero? What does true friendship mean? How hard it is to be a teenager in any era! How hard it is to find your place in society, and how much harder it is to avoid being fooled by lies and lured into traps. And most importantly... what about those dragon teeth on Viking helmets.

This new show full of adventure, humour and catchy melodies that is sure to prove entertaining and touching for audiences of all ages is directed by Petr Štěpán, an experienced author and actor at Brno City Theatre.
